Safe on the road: to school or kindergarten on a scooter

To school or kindergarten on a scooter

Riding a scooter to school or kindergarten is not only fun, but also a great way to get children off to an active start to the day. To make sure the journey is safe and stress-free, we have five valuable tips to keep your child safe and well prepared:

1. Put on safety equipment

Safety has top priority. A well-fitting helmet is a must for every scooter ride. Knee and elbow pads offer additional protection, especially for younger children or beginners. Make sure that the protective equipment fits comfortably and does not slip.

Tip: Let your children choose their own protective equipment. That way, they will wear it happily and without reluctance ;)

2. Increase visibility in road traffic

Good visibility is particularly important for children to be recognized early on in road traffic. Reflective clothing, bright colors and fluorescent strips on clothing can help to ensure that they are visible even in poor lighting conditions. Additional lighting on the scooter or helmet, such as small LED lights, further increases safety.

Tip: All our helmets have an LED light on the back, so your child is clearly visible even in poor weather conditions or at dusk

3. Choose safe routes

Plan a route in advance that is away from busy roads if possible. Bicycle paths, sidewalks or quiet residential streets are best. If crossing roads is unavoidable, explain and practice the most important traffic rules and correct behavior at crossings with your children.

Tip: Test the route together in advance to identify danger spots and find alternative routes.

4. Start early enough

Rushing and hurrying can reduce attention and lead to accidents. Plan enough time so that the children can drive to school or kindergarten without stress. A relaxed journey not only ensures greater safety, but is also more fun.

Tip: Turn the journey into a ritual, e.g. with a song together or a short stop at a favorite place.

With a little planning and preparation, the journey to school or nursery on a scooter is not only safe, but also great fun for the whole family. By paying attention to the right equipment, safe routes and anticipatory behavior, you can give your children an active and positive start to the day. So, grab your scooter, put on your helmet and off you go!
